A participatory immersive theater using EEG brainwave sensing and AI-generated visuals to guide audiences through a collective journey into the subconscious.
Overview
α-Forest integrates electronic sound, interactive design, and AI algorithmic imaging to create a multi-sensory healing experience. Drawing from a field residency among the Bunun indigenous community in Nantou, Taiwan, the work captures audience brainwaves (EEG) and physical movement data to generate real-time co-created audio-visual content. Across two scenes — Dream Immersion and Dream Exploration — visitors descend into their own subconscious, then awaken into an AI-constructed dreamscape of mountain forest imagery and consciousness streams. The piece situates healing within a technologically mediated but profoundly bodily framework, using the immersive infrastructure of NTMoFA's U-108 SPACE as both container and instrument.《α-Forest》結合電子聲響、互動設計與 AI 演算法生成影像,創造出一個多重感官的療癒體驗。
Concept & Background
Positioned within the intersecting frameworks of multisensory immersion and posthuman perception, α-Forest interrogates the boundary between inner biological states and algorithmically constructed environments. The EEG interface makes cognition legible — and shared — within a collectively inhabited space, reframing healing as a practice simultaneously intimate and distributed. The work's grounding in Bunun dream-reading culture (Taisah) introduces an indigenous epistemology of consciousness into a high-technology performance context.《α-Forest》位處多感官沉浸與後人類感知的交會框架中,探問內在生物狀態與演算法建構環境之間的邊界。
